In Supercommunicators, Charles Duhigg reviews how people can become more effective communicators, laying out three types of conversations that take place:
1. What’s this really about? (decision making conversations)
2. How do we feel? (emotional conversations)
3. Who are we? (conversations about identity)
And then guides the reader through techniques to navigate each type.
This was a great read. I wouldn’t say there’s any new information if you’re someone who has studied active listening, negotiation techniques or creating inclusive spaces in-depth. Having said that, even if you have, Supercommunicators is an excellent refresher.
If you want to improve your interpersonal communication skills, are a people manager, or involved in any type of negotiation, you’ll find value throughout this book. A great resource for an Employee Communication or Learning and Development professional development library.
Happy reading.
